I recently bought a DVD Burner. Made several DVDs, Nice. I wanted to do some more SVCDs. I just made svcd Cue Bin files, 3 of them to be exact, one movie. Nero 6 will not allow me to burn the image. It says not enough disc space. The file is 805mb. I have done 812mb on to a 80min CD, using NERO 5.5 and CD-RW burner. I have enabled overburn, I put in 92min instead of 82min. Is there another seting? When I used Nero 5.5, just set oveburn, and go, I have made many SVCD movie backups using my CDR-CDRW burner. I have not tried with the DVD Burner. Should it be any different than a CD-CDRW burner?
I'm using an OptoRite DVD Burner. It has burn proof technology and will overburn, as I understand. It does CDRs and CD-RWs, I have done some audio CDs. This is the first time I'm trying SVCD on this Burner. Nero 6, I cannot use the 700mb CDR.
DVD burners tend to burn CD-Rs at very high speeds and I know that overburning is a very bad idea at speeds over 4x. Lusifer has written quite a bit about the subject in this forum. Perhaps the problem really is that Nero won't let you overburn at 24x or 32x or whatever CD-R burning speed your DVD player wants to burn at. You could try to use a lower speed (you may not be able to) like 4x and see if that makes a difference.
Many DVD Burners do not Support OverBurning, Mine didn"t untill I got a Firmware upgrade, and No Burner will overburn 92 minutes 82 is about the Max that any CD-R brand can handle...
I did not try to burn at high speeds. I had set the burn speed at 4X. My blank CDR is a 48X Fuji. As soon as I put the media in it, it said, not enough space and opened the tray.
I guess I have to burn my SVCDs on my old LiteOn CDR/RW burner. That had no problem with overburn. I overburned a 99min CDR, and it gave me almost 72min of SVCD.
What firmware update did you use and for what DVD burner? Does OptoRite have a firmware hack? Thanks all
It is Nero 6, I think, that is causing the problem. I installed my LiteOn CDR Burner back in, and it is doing the same thing. The only difference is the Nero 6 S/W. With Nero 5.5, File > Burn Image > Set record speed and burn. The question is, why Nero 6 don't want to burn the 805mb on the 80min CDR? Nero 5.5 did it all the time!
You just Probably need to install the Nero 6.0.15 Overburning patch, you can download it off the nero web site and it fixes the Overburn problem in the latest nero release....Cheers
