the pioneer 105 dvd-burner (DVD-R) in combination with dvd-decrypter is able to read out data (not to play with powerdvd or stuff!!)from DVD+R!! although the explorer says "no disc", but it works!!!
so if you have a recorded DVD+R but you need DVD-R, put it in your drive, run dvd-decrypter, run ".iso read" and put the content on your HD. the run ".iso write" and write it back to a DVD-R and have fun!
harry, who was very thankful, when he found out this possibility!
I can see the reason. Some standalone players can play DVD-R discs but not DVD+R discs. So copying a DVD+R to a DVD-R may solve the playback problem. Another option would be buying a better standalone player.
I solved my DVD reading problems by buying a new second cheap LiteOn DVD-ROM unit (LTR-166S) that can read all DVD-formats. I'll read the discs with the DVD-ROM unit and burn the copy with my DVD-burner. My A04 DVD-burner is too slow on reading DVD-R (only 2X) but the DVD-ROM unit reads DVD-R up to 8X speed.
Have you tried upgrading the firmware of the A05? Sometimes newer firmware versions have better reading capabilities.
