Hi, Folks I just run across this neat Codec that can be used in Virtual dub and other apps to encode to Mpeg1/2 ,It is still in developement and haven"t had a chance to really test it but I"m sure someone will find it usefull, You can download it at the Home site :

Tested DV-2 avi to Mpeg2 (DVD) with Virtualdub. VBR oops'ed but CBR worked 4 fps (p3-800). Default settings without deinterlace-filter produced worst DVD ever. Full of blocks (Q-level over 20). Deinterlaced gave better quality, Q-level just a bit over 3.

Save avi Creates a dummy avi and filename.vid although asked to be be filename.mpeg

Anyway it's Free and has plenty of filters and settings to be used to get what You want.

I have been In contact with the Developer and he has Just started to work on this and there are Lots of bugs to work out but I"m sure when the Bugs get worked out it will be a Much better encoder and It is a Great idea....cheers
