Problems to schedule recordings with ATI MMC 8.1

I wanted to use ATI MMC 8.1 and the scheduler to record a TV-program but it did not work. It opens the recording window but the recording timer is stuck at 0:00:00 recording time and there is no file recorded. If I do a one-click recording then it works but not when schedule recordings.

I read that this could be caused by using WindowsXP and mixed FAT32 and NTFS partiotions but the solution should be upgrade to MMC 8.1 or higher, but I already have 8.1 installed. I need some FAT32 discs because I have dual-boot with winMe (and also RedHat Linux) on the same machine.

I have the original ATI AIW Radeon 32 MB DDR AGP (the first model before they gave them those numbers). I record to PAL DVD settings.

Can I solve the problem with upgrading to MMC 8.7 or will it give nothing but trouble? I don't have the new DVD-player CD reqired to upgrade. I still have a working MMC 7.7 setup on the WinMe partition so I guess I have somekind of backup if I can't make it work on WinXP.

Any ideas how to fix the scheduled recordings?

Ronny

I have the same ATI card as you and experienced the same problem with MMC8.1 and MMC8.5 using WinXP.
The ATI website suggests upgrading to the newest Catalyst/Drivers and MMC8.7 to fix this problem. I tried just that and I ran into more problems and weird issues...like MMC reporting that my P4/2.26 GHz was not capable of MMX and I would drop frames at 15 - 20% on any type of capture. So, I went back to the last known good way for me to capture without any issues:
Win2k, WDM Capture Driver version 6.14.10.6201v1, Catalyst 3.6, DAO 8-1-0-0, MMC 8.5 (remember to load WDM first, dont reboot and then load the Catalyst driver and reboot). You can find these all here:
http://www.ati.com/support/products/radeonwin2kpreviousdrivers.html
This set up works perfect with no issues. I have tried several times to upgraded to XP and everytime I do, it never works properly for MMC. So I'll stick to what works.

Cheers,
