Is there a way to modify the audio volume level within a VCD or SVCD (MPEG1 or MPEG2 files)? I've got several videos some of which are very loud and others soft. I've like to be able to modify them so that they're approximately at the same level when I'm playing them on a DVD Player.
There are several options. Most mpeg editors are capable to change the volume (without re-encoding the video, "smart encoding"). E.g. in Ulead VideoStudio you change the volume of the clip or using UleadMediaStudio you can adjust the sound-profile represented by a hair-line in the audio track.
Another option is using a sound editor after demuxing the video which is capable of normalizing the sound, then mux again.
