I have downloaded the film Cold Mountain from KaZaA several times, but each movie has the same problem. There is no sound nor immage when I play it with AVI preview.
Then I tried with Subviewer, Divx and Elecard MPEG Player 2 but nothing helped.
So I start searching for codecs, the new K-lite pack, divx 31 alpha, MP3 codec, Divx 5, AC3 Filter and Xvid codec 5. Nothing helped.
The two programs for codecsearch do not explain a lot to me.
When you download a movie that someone else made then "all bets are off", because you don't know how the movie was made.
Also, I have heard that there are people who purposley make movies wrong or unplayable just to fool you into thinking your getting a good movie. This is also true for MP3z.
I don't download from Kazaa, but I suspect that most of the time you'll run into problems when downloading any types of movies from there.
First of all download the file completely...then try to use it second...search google for a kazaa codec pack and install that, you may not have the codec to play the file which is why nothing is showing up...
Try extracting the audio with virtualdbub, normalize the extracted audio with something like soundforge, re-encode the video with the normalized audio and you're set to go.
