DVD Picture is offset on my TV screen

Hi

Can someone please advise, i have a DVD movie, but the problem is that the picture is offset by about 30%. By that i mean the picture wraps so that what is, or should be the left of the picture is infact near the middle of the TV screen!

It plays fine when i play the DVD thru WinDVD on my PC. THe offset issue is only when i play it on my TV

The DVD (may be SVCD), it has vobs etc so i assume its in a DVD compliant format - The SVCD hasb been authored as DVD i think.

I have been told the only way to fix it is to rip, re-encode, re-author and burn again.

Can someone tell my how to fix it please ?

Thank V Much, i have been scratching my head with this problem for about 6 days now, and i must have gone through about 10+ DVD-R's.

I could do with an idiots guide of what to do, as i am pretty new to all this.

Thanks V much in advance, i really appreciate it !

Your message, while fairly wordy, really says very little that is helpful. Where did you get this file? Did you encode it yourself? What did you use to encode? What was the original format? What is the brand and model of your DVD player?
http://www.dvdrhelp.com has some guides that might be useful, but based on your message, it seems to me that either you downloaded and burned the video without doing anything to it or it was given to you. My best guess, and it's only a guess, is that your problem is being caused by the resolution of the video clip being incorrect for DVD.
