And The Winner is....February 26 2005 at 11:32 AM | Ohima (no login) |
| Hi, Folks!
DV to Mpeg2, software only??
Got curious and tested Mainconcept PVR, Intervideo Wincoder 1.8, Intervideo WinDVD creator 2.0 and Cyberlink PowerEncoder MPEG4 AVC Edition.
Testbench: MSI board with VIA chipset but Intel 2.8GHz HT cpu. AC97 WDM audio.
Mainconcept: Poor audio-quality and lockup
Wincoder: Didn't even start
WinDVD creator: Poor audio
Powerencoder: THE WINNER - no problems. DV straightaway to Mpeg2.

Nice!
But I prefer capture as DV and then encode afterwards.
I have heard there is a direct capture and encode option in Mainconcept encoder 1.4.2. Have you tried that? |

I tested this products too. They all worked for me. The big question is quality wise. I also prefer to capture as DV, edit, and then encode, with a decent, multi-pass encoder. The clear winner here is Cinema Craft Encoder. Second comes Canopus, and third maincncept |

Okey,
Avi to mpeg. Capture DV-camera to avi with Scenalyzer live.
Encode to mpeg with CCE270.01.05. No problems, excellent quality. You can select field order too.
But, I still prefer to DV-cam straight --> mpeg
Problems seem to be caused by VIA. Pure Intel seem to gowork better with multimedia. | |
