vcd's are better quality and bigger files so of course the files are much bigger. cd's can hold up to 80 minutes of vcd files regardless of size. everyone thinks cdr's only hold 700mb. this is incorrect. when doing vcd and svcd it goes by minutes. of course you can't burn it as a data or audio file. it is a video cd so you need to see what your burner program is calling it. in nero its in "other". if the movie is longer than 80 minutes you will have to split it. most conversion programs will split the file per your instructions as they convert avi or mpg to vcd files. for your info svcd files can only be up to 50 minutes per disk so most movies require 3 or 4 disks. i made a bunch of vcd's and svcd's before i discovered how easy it is to burn dvd's. dvd burners and dvdr blanks have come way down in price. i recommend going to dvd.
