? Compressing SVCD file

Hello everybody!

I am very new at this whole concept of SVCD files. In fact, I don't know that I will even be able to explain what I need to do or if it is possible.

I had a video DVD made by a professional photographer (of my Arabian stallion for advertising purposes). I wished to be able to copy this DVD (done with her permission) onto my hard drive. This I have accomplished. These files were with the extension .vob.

I have successfully transferred these .vob files into and SVCD file which I am pleased with. The video playback is very smooth running, no distortion of the picture (this was the problem with one of the programs that I was using to convert) and the music is free flowing.

My problem is this -- the final SVCD file is 43.5MB in size!!

I wish to be able to e-mail this video and also to be able to post on the internet. Is there anyway that this file can be diminished in size without sacrificing the picture (this especially) and other elements of the video?

I did try to convert the .vob file into VCD but this did reduce the picture size which created a distortion in the horse.

Any help (in layman's terms)is appreciated!! Thanks!

Unfortunately, the smaller the file size the lower the quality will be. My favorite codec as far as quality is concerned, is DivX AVI files. MPEG videos can look very good too, but either format of adequate quality is likely to be too huge to e-mail easily.

Does the person you wish to send the video to have a high speed internet connection? If so, you could go to a free file host (like http://www.filelodge.com) and upload your file. Just e-mail them the link to the file & voila. If they have a fast connection, a 42 MB file shouldn't take more than a few minutes to download.

Good luck & happy holidays!
