Which encoder is better for DVD encoding? I have both and I want to make sure that I am using the best one.

Thanks

for speed, I like CCE. But for quality, I like TMPGenc.
I do a lot of DVD to SVCD conversion. Even though, TMPGenc is the best in SVCD quality, Most of the time I use CCE for speed. The quality is little less than TMPGenc

It depends

DV - TMPenc
Most of my DV clips are short, thus time is not a big factor here. I like the fact that I don't have to resize for SVCD and its ability to batch my clips for encoding. Quality is better than CCE for DV source. I noticed more blockiness with ver 12f compared to 12b. Good audio.

DVD ripping - CCE
It's fast and less blocky than TMPEnc with the same bitrate. CCE seems to encode DVD MPEG2 streams better than TMPEnc especially in fast motion scenes. Audio is so so but you can use TMPEnc to encode (Very fast).

If you have a number of video files to convert using TMPEG then you should check out.

Agree with VideoMan, TMPGEnc give a better quality, but
takes longer time to do the job. But why not do it
with the best quality from the beginning ?, even if it
takes a little bit longer ?

I do Mostly DVD Rips and the first 750 or so SVCD DVD Rips I did with Tmpgenc and the last 1200 or so SVCD"s I have done were with CCE useing Tmpgenc or AVISynth Filters and it seems CCE will Give you Better Quality When Doing DVD Rips or encodeing High Quality sources Plus it is Much faster and it seems to Give better Quality at Lower Bitrates..Tmpgenc is Better For DV Sources Cuz It has A Greater selection of filters But it is Quite Buggy on some systems and is Really slow..What works best for me Is to Use the Tmpgenc filters with CCE, that way you get the Speed and Quality of CCE But you get to use all the Filters that Tmpgenc Has to Clean up any Noisy or Dirty sources..The files I encode this way Look Much better that the File encoded By Just CCE or Tmpgenc....I have been useing the "MainConcept" encoder Lately and It seem to Be Just as good as Tmpgenc and it is allmost as Fast as CCE...

How do you use TMPGenc filters with CCE? I'd love to hear an explanation of how that works as I have no idea how to do that.

Useing Tmpgenc filters with CCE is all Done through Frameserveing through VFAPI...Say you are ripping a DVD useing DVD2AVI then you would take the D2V file and Load it into Tmpgenc then do all the settings and filters in Tmpgenc Like any Resizeing and noise Filters ,de-interlace and whetever you want..Then save the Project as a TPR Project file..Then load the TPR File into the Vfapi Converter which will Make a Psudo avi with all the Properties and settings you did in Tmpgenc ,then you just load the Psudo avi file into CCE and encode it like Normal...
