i agree with you on the kato character, i think mark dacascos would be an excellent choice, i have said this since first hearing they were gonna make a film, he is an incredible actor and a super martial artist, just look at his movies "crying freeman" and also "drive", his acting and fighting skills are well displayed in these movies.

as for the hornet, i have to say i think clooney would be in my top 5 of choices for the role, jake gyllenhall (not sure if ive spelled that correctly) would be in my choices also, possible that guy who played wolverine in the x men movie, he is pretty good.

what i think they have to get right is the story itself, **** story and the movie will be a flop, all of us on the forum remember the show but people who are not big bruce fans may not remember it so probably wont go see it unless it has good story, good action etc etc.

i also dont think they should change much from the tv series, the show is a classic and should be kept that way, in fact i think it would be good if they used the same sets, costumes etc etc.

what does everyone else think????

I don't know about Mark D. as Kato just cuz he's not a huge name in the acting world. I know they tried to make him a big star with "only the strong" but it didn't really work. I agree he's a great martial artist and not a bad actor, but he might be too tall for the part. I'd prefer Jet Li and I think more people would go knowing it's Jet. As for the Hornet part maybe that new guy who played Batman.

kato kicks

its a difficult thing putting names forward as we see from past experiences they always go for box office names rather than ability, i mean we are only a small percentage to the powers that be,but i would bet jet to play it and he would be appropriate box office but for ability chans the man? but like i say it will be somebody unexpected, donnie yen is good but may be too tall? thats just my humble opinion as for hornet, maybe clooney wouldnt be as bad as people think.

yes i agree i had forgotten about donnie where have i been
my head is in the clouds but i still think you should give dacascos better roles he is very talanted as for jackie chan for the green hornet sorry i think he is just to much of a comedian but still has great ability and i do love all his
movies though

chan

October 22 2005, 10:17 AM

for the exact reason chan is a comedy star he would do kato justice (i) certainly cant take kato seriously especially after bruce wasnt even 100% glad he played it seriously and a busboy to boot, it makes sense to play seriously and make it comedic as well, and let clooney act it out as hornet. but i do like donnie yen because he has tried to play most of his roles without wires or gimmicks ?but even he has to play to the oriental market they seem to accept the myth type storylines which after all is where the roots lie for martial arts and kung fu movies genre. again my opinion others will see differently we are all different which is a good thing is it not.

well when u put it that way i suppose your right a litte comedy to the character might go a long way i was looking out for someone to say this as bruce did add a little comedy to some things he done as well remember when he dressed up as a telephone repair man i thought that was hysterical the way he portrayed it was brilliant.

Re: chan

a little bit comedy worked well in fist of fury however he didnt do pretty much anything funny in the green hornet and i think they should stick to the original show as much as they can when making the film.

jackie chan is no good, he is too old for the part and is too comedic, although if he didnt do the comedy and was a bit younger then he would be my number 1 choice, jet li is too classical, dont think hes any good.
maybe donnie yen, he might be a decent choice.

i think if they change loads of the tv show when making the movie they might as well change the name of it because it jut wont be the same, they have to try keep it the way it was, the show was and still is a classic, making changes could spoil it.

yes donnie is most probably a good choice i love getting all your opinions just look at the dukes of hazzard it was ruined
hollywood just ruin the classic t.v shows and yes the a-team is the next one to be ruined as well and they probably will
mess up the classic green hornet maybe they should just scrap
it to be honest it just aint gonna be the same without bruce
lee he just cant be replaced a man like bruce only come along once in a lifetime and his legacy will run till the end of time take care everyone and keep the opinions coming

kato chan too old

October 23 2005, 4:24 AM

i find the comments that chan is no good and too old a bit one sided and obviously this is just your opinion and you are allowed your opinion so i will just say i would like to think its of a small majority. green hornet is good but its no way a classic it just didnt do well for bruce back in 60s it is successful today purely because bruce has become a legend and its been milked, it was more successful in the east originally i think i recall, so green hornet is not bruces best work, he as much said so because he wasnt being himself but rather playing a subservient chinese character? he did get a bit involved with a couple of episodes and you can tell which because they are classic episodes. if the series wasnt as serious as it tried to be it would have probably been more successful. ah well lets hope they do a good job. thanks for comments its good to be able to get them posted on temple forum, thanks for forum from me jimbobs

How about Tony Jaa?

October 25 2005, 1:03 AM

I think Tony Jaa would make a great Kato. Jet Li could look great as Kato, he's the right size & build for the job, but as far as convincing fighting skills (withouit wires or doubles) are concerned he can't compare to Tony. Then again, with Kato's mask & cap Jet could be doubled half the time & no one would notice.
As for Jackie Chan, well, I'll always be a fan (no matter how lame his movies become, he made some great ones when he was younger, closer to his physical peak) but I'd agree he's way too old for the role of Kato now. I think he should give up action movies altogether because he can't possibly live up to his younger, legendary self (watching his action sequences now is kind of sad, like watching Ali, or Sugar Ray Leonard, or Holyfield fighting long after they should've retired).
I'd also like to see a "Green Hornet" movie set in the 1940s, somewhere around that era, with Al Capone type gangsters as the baddies; I just can't see the Green Hornet & his faithful asian chauffer fighting crime in our time, neither politically correct nor remotely believeable.

gotta agree that ja would be good in anything i do like his ong bak but i have only seen that one at present, he looks like the guy who was in jeans advert but i prob think not him? maybe someone can verify who that was .chan is old but how old is too old i wonder. i can only say i am hoping he will do a film similiar to protector or something he still has something left but by all his past stuff i wont knock him for taking less risks?
