Well, what with the seeds effectively over (i say effectively because there's no proof, it just seems likely) I thought as I went to sleep i'd watch a video of some of the live promo Ian Martyn Angie and a random drummer from Faithless (anyone know?) did for Life's Too Short and Tilt and as I lay in my bed I actually shed a tear, I figured I'll never get to see those 3 play as a band ever again.
Ive seen them 7 times and I thought it'd be more but obviously not. What with Angie working with Sophie Ellis Bextor (two gorgeous women on one stage, dont know if i'll be able to resist!!) and Martyn with Richard Ashcroft (2 men on one stage, sure I will be able to resist!) and Ian busy producing stuff and doing solo outings, it all but completely seems the seeds have gone, even if theres no confrimation from official sources.
There is obviously a feint hope that eventually they'll reform. But as it is, at least we have news of a solo acoustic album to keep us happy. I figure that we'll still have Broudie's music for a while yet, in some form or another.
Mat, mate...GET A GRIP! Ian's not died or anything! Just be glad he's moving on with his career! Now there's no-one else who's gonna need a helpline setting up is there, like there was when Take That split up?!?!! Only joshin with ya la! :op
I was sitting by my window watching the autumn leaves on the tress, all red gold and green and I couldn't help but weep as i thought "I shall never see those leaves again as they are swept away by the fall gales." Oh sure there would be new leaves in the spring, but...sigh.
I wouldn't rule the Seeds out unless we get some confirmation. They all have to earn a living you know - so if they aren't doing anything as a band, it would make sense that they'd do othr stuff to make ends meet.
Very well put to person who stated very well put to person who wishes to remain anonymous.
If any other well putters wish to well put on this forum, please do so in a well put manner. If you put it well, which i must say is well put. However, if someone wishes to put something on the forum which is not well put, they will be dealt with very severely with a stick and a vat of acid, which of course will be well put.
the others may take the p*** but i know how you feel, after nearly 3 years since the last gig in Sheffield when me and my mates managed to get backstage and had some great piccies taken, i eventualy put the enlarged photos in frames and put them on my wall, I too had a tear in my eye, but i was strong...
Message for Stevie D - please say thank you to Mr Noodler for the demo...loved it, especialy Lies, (i hope i have got the title right, or i will feel a right plonker). I havn,t got his email address but i have a couple more email addresses of venues in Sheffield for him....any news on the Boardwalk..
Also, someone, i think it was Mat mentioned Roddy Frame...i havn,t got the new album but you might be intereted to know that we are seeing him tomorrow night.....
keep your pecker up Mat....and dream of better times when music was real..
Thank you scooby, its good to know that someone feels the same!!
And i wasnt that pretnetious though? i think its coz i saw them on very tour for since 97 (Hillsborough, Huddersfield, Liverpool, Guildford, Hammesmith, WOlverhampton Civic, Bristol Colston Hall, Liverpool L2) ive become attahced to them. Maybe if i hadnt seen them then i wouldve just been connectd to the music on the records rather than the live experience and i wouldnt be as bad.
I'm not THAT bad, I mean, its not like a member of my family has died, and i do realise that as Mr anonymous put very well () that theyve all got to do some work to buy food and stuff!!!!
Its just that LS have been a large part of my life for a long time, thats all.
Ah well you see tresses are a very special and very rare kind of plant type thing that grow really tall and have long shafts of wood running through the centre. Not many people know about them....
ha hem.
Don't get me wrong, I may not have seen them live or anything, but that doesn't mean I loved them any less. I will miss them but I can't help but feel grateful for what we've already had. I've learnt that is doesn't do to dwell on the past and worry about what we wont have anymore or what might have been. It's cliché but it's true.
As for p***taking it's just first, second and third nature. You know that. :-D
Totally agree Mat. I watched that video you (kindly) did for me and sat there thinking 'shit, all this is over'. The Lightning Seeds as we know them are no more
And face it optimists, they are over. I guarantee Martyn is earning more money touring the world with Ashcroft.
Still, Broudie's new work should be a big new page in hismusical career, and I know Im for one am itching to hear some of his material!
SCOOBY SUE - Thanks for the kind words! Glad you like the CD. More songs are being finished now, keep checking http://stage.vitaminic.co.uk/looks_like_rain/
Glad you like Blind (the 'lies' one!), if you didnt know thats actually ME singing that one!
Gigs are being sorted now, cheers for your info in your area
Can't believe it's got so out of hand. And all because Mat got a tad upset! Give him a break guys-anyone know where we can get him a black armband from?
