Second, I would like to reference an Alyn revival. Players on the board that was deleted by Laural have reclaimed their respective creations and placed them in other venues. It is imperative that if an Alyn revival is in the works, that only creations made by the players involved are utilized.
Things like Karanda, Venway, the Warlock Order, Gardennia, and various other creations should not be utilized without proper consent by their respective creators.
As I will not be utilizing Krythal in any of my creations, it would be excellent not to utilize Dreadslays, the Mutiny alliance, the Abyss, Chaos Fields, Ruin, etc.
I know we're all creative people, so there shouldn't need to be any overlap in roleplays if the players in the roleplays didn't create the material themselves. A good rule of thumb--if you didn't create it, don't use it. If a player on your board didn't create it, don't use it. And if you're not sure who created it, don't use it.

Been wonderin' how he's been. I was looking through old board posts and ran across a bunch of people, George/Cypress being one. I guess I'll have to keep my eyes open while I'm over there. If you see him before I do though, tell him I said I hope he's well.

The World of Alyn, is operated and held in trust by me. I only use things that I have permission to use. If anyone has any issues with what Alyn consists of and what is able to be used as playable. Please contact me. All of you should have my messengers.

Chris, you know I trust that you're not using things that aren't yours. However, it's also making sure other players don't use things that aren't theirs. On Chatalot, there is an Alyn board. They are using things that are not theirs.
I'd appreciate it if anything that does not have written permission from owners was removed. All it takes is an email to make sure you can use something--and if you can present the email, then great. If not, the stuff should be removed all together.

I wasn't aware that we were using anything stated in the above post. I know I for one am not, though I cannot speak for everyone.
In fact to make it all so very much easier on you. I'll abolish this starting of an argument right now. If it is so important to Mr. Anonymous that nothing of his be used, I will not even use the name Alyn in my RP, and given the fact that those I have been playing with will probably no doubt not mind seeing that we've all matured these last few years into people with lives outside of RP, I hope that this appeases you and yours.

I'd like to ask you where in my post you felt I was starting an argument or being hostile.
In fact, I do not care about the name Alyn, however, I do care about materials used in that roleplaying game as they pertain to other people's creations. I have no interest in arguing with you, nor do I have interest in discussing the merits of your new found maturity.
I simply have interest in notifying you that some of the creations used in the Alyn roleplay are now being marketed under copyright. It is your right to know when the copyright has changed, and that's why I bothered posting.
As for using an old handle, it was mainly so people would know who I was--but you probably don't remember me. On a more personal accord, however, it did hurt that years worth of material was deleted by you because you were angry. However, it is neither here nor there, and it forced us to create a new setting that will be marketed. Fortunately, I came in after the drama of the Alyn system started and you weren't really playing anymore anyway.
If anyone felt this was some sort of dramatic crap, I apologize. You must understand that I have to notify you of this legally.

Aren't you thirty? I assume I'm not the only person that has a decent job around here that pays well. So that leads me to ask:
What, exactly, are you compensating for by talking to people like that? I feel sorry for you. Clearly someone mistreated you at some point in your life that you feel you need to compensate by talking to someone like that on the internet.
The truth of it is, Laural, that I am over it. Beyond over it, actually. What you did, while completely rude and disrespectful--and probably a reason why you'll never be any substantial part of the creative community--forced me to think of newer, better ideas. What I was hurt by is that you said you found a new-level of maturity, and that made me wonder why you never swallowed your pride and said you were sorry.
But this post leads me to believe you have not matured. The truth of it is that someone was probably really awful to you. Someone probably hurt you more than any words I could say on this board. And you compensate by being horrible, or trying to, at least. I used to do that too. And my post earlier? Just to egg you on. Truth of it is, I figured you wouldn't even read it.
At the end of the day, Laural, I believe in karma. What comes around, goes around and all of that. So while you say you're over it, you've moved on, you'll still read to the end of this post and reply with something inappropriate. You'll still be pissed, you'll still think about this thread at some point when you're not even online.
And that makes me sad for you.
At the end of the day, I'm sure I'll get an email alert that you've responded, yet again, to a thread you claim to not want to deal with. I said my piece in the Alyn Revival post. And that's really all I needed to say. The level of hostility I've encountered makes me realize that there was no point to even saying anything to begin with. You are not a part of a group of people that will threaten a creative accomplishment--mainly because you're still stuck in that sad little world that someone put you in to.

who really cares? For years I've been coming here, posting stories and using some of my creative ideas in this community. Sharing with others and enjoying what came out of it..
If you want to take your toys and go.. fine. no one is stopping you. But please don't attack people for using your material when first off you hold no copyright to it. second, even if you did. you are foolish for offering it in an open community and not expecting people to borrow, yes borrow not steal your creative material.
I can promise that myself, Laural, and any others I play with haven't and wont use any of your material, whatever that maybe. We're all pretty creative enough people to not have to bum off others. There is a copyright on the material as it is in the process of being edited for commercial use.
I appreciate your concern, but I do wonder where you felt I was being hostile. I only was notifying you of the copyright that is held on some of those things, so that it was understood by the players on the board that this particular line of creativity is going to be going to market.

However, my thought was more that someone can probably distinguish between a post meant to egg you on, and a serious post that involves no drama.
At the end of the day, the "worthless" comment was geared toward the idea that I can't imagine, after nuking a board, that any rpers would want to risk going back to the same game without a guarantee that it wouldn't happen again. And even then, I would wonder.
"Worthless" refers to the security of the roleplay, not the quality.
However, truly, the point of my post was to make the respectable rpers aware that certain aspects of the old World of Alyn won't be coming back.

I don't think about this long into the night, I have a son, a husband, and a career that occupy much of my time. I came back to RP because it was a creative outlet for me and I enjoyed it and playing with people that I had become friends with.

While I appreciate that people can be influenced by almost anything in our world today, the simple fact of the matter is that the above listed material is now copyrighted. The issue extends from the fact the other people might have enjoyed the material and were inspired by it. The issue is that we, as the authors, are seeking to protect our property. We're not asking for a lot. Just that our rights be respected, and that the use of our material be avoided.
This isn't about being hostile, or about who used to talk to who, or whatever social clique you used be part of around here. This is us protecting our property. We're asking that you respect our wishes. That's all there is to this.

The World of Alyn, a coop rp that was started back in 2001 by several of us including those that are mentioned in the above threads. This World was to be a setting that was developed by the players based on locations, kingdom and countries that were created in the East Wing.
The players were making their own world to allow for a more diverse rp setting. This was to be done by designed the World of Alyn to become that world. We made continents, for our kingdoms. Anything that we could utilize from the East Wing setting was included in such a design.
From The Castle,(as per rp it is a nexus of realities that Gods and denizens of other worlds visit.) This was a spiritual place and closed to ownership, yet it was a major port city ruled by a Merchant Council. Think Waterdeep. To the Tower of Wayrath, located in a forest not to far from the castle. It was a place of magical learning.
It was a fun place to rp. This setting was played out via the Hall of Darkness message board that Laural owned. Everything was going fine, we were enjoying rp. But as normal, egos got in the way. Arguments started and Laural deleted her board and all the posts were gone.
This caused many people to be upset. Several said they were leaving and were taking their creations and leaving. Others had no problems. I hold the name in Trust and I keep the files of all that I have. I still use the name and anyone that wishes to help create the setting is more then welcome to help.
Now the property that was being talked about was; The Warlock Order, The Empire of Karanda, The town of Arundel, The Mutiny Alliance, Venway, The Dreadslay name. All these are now copyrighted and can no longer be used without the express permission of their creator.
That is all fine and good and that was the point of discussion that this thread was to address. As I am the keeper of Alyn. I am the admin to the only website and message board that should exist. I have addressed those problems and they are taken care of.
If anyone wishes to have any more interactions or help design a world based on the East Wing of Chathouse. Then please contact me and let me know.

This being said, the point of the post was to make certain that people who are starting an Alyn revival knew that certain aspects of the world as it used to be played needed to be removed.
It's a very simiple process. Unfortunately, it became far more dramatic than it ever needed to be.
