Thats excatly what I was getting at Lon, I had a look at getting into CFS2, but as soon as I saw what had to be done download wise, I was turned right off.
I think the only one, 100% way of ensuring people dont do this hacking stuff, is to make the aircraft performace & damage files totally unaccessable.
Thats where having new planes available from the makers of the games in forms of updates comes in, or having a huge amount of them available in the game to start with. So there is no need for 2nd partys to have to ability to add their own.
