Actually neither 'Red Baron' nor 'Red Baron II/3D' are Open Architecture. It was just the artistic and hex-editing skills of people fiddling around with it and coming to some solutions. The modifications, patches and addons were done without any information about the game itself by the manufacturer. Just guess and try.
