The main problem that I can see with a chatless game is simply organization. It is one thing to attend a squad briefing on targets, flight plans, etc, and quite another to log onto a server with 15-20 folks from Minsk to Minneapolis. I understand the "lounge" chatroom (wonderful idea, particularly if it is configurable to have private chats for specific squads {wishful thinking, I know}) could be a great boon for preflight breifings. However, with monitor limitations (above referenced) and having to interect with the world around you via keyboard commands, it could have the potential to make the game less playable. I do like the Macro idea, though. Seems to me like a nice balance between authenticity and plausibility. |
