Who was the guy who drew him? I mean, was it fan-art, or something "official"? As far as I know, the only person to draw Ponder is Paul Kidby, I don't think Josh Kirby, the first Discworld artist, ever got to it...(and he never will, now that he's dead.) I LIKE Paul Kidby's artwork, actually, I think his stuff is gorgeous and he gets everybody in character. Let's put it this way: Even if I don't totally AGREE with his interpretations of each and every character, I can at least tell that he was paying attention to the ACTUAL canon descriptions in the books! And that counts for a LOT. It's the main reason I could never STAND Josh Kirby's stuff. His stuff looks like he had no flipping idea what series he was even drawing for...
(his Rincewind makes me CRINGE, for example. An OLD man with a long flowing thick WHITE beard?!!! Hel-LO, Earth to Josh, did you even read page one of the actual book?!) Paul Kidby's stuff is not only following canon, but it gives me the feeling he might even be a FAN. He seems to understand the characters' _souls_, not just their looks.
Ponder being worse abused than Harry? Well...MAY-be...but only in a cartoony way, where generally you can get beat up and be fine later. What happens to Harry is treated more seriously.
Lemme see here, as far as I can remember, Ponder has lost part of one ear (ouch!), had a 50-foot woman fall on top of him, and he's gotten beat up in general by the evil Elves, assorted thorns and poisonous creatures and so forth in XXXX, he once aged to 104 suddenly and almost died, and when he was a little kid the other kids used to beat him up horribly and toss him off of cliffs or into garbage cans all the time.
So I can feel sorry for him. But he, so far, hasn't had to face real, SERIOUS, dark, life-and-death heroic situations like Harry is starting to. Mind you, if a 50-foot woman fell on Harry he'd be dead, because those books aren't written for comedy so much.

(Oh, and don't worry about the "New!"'s and "Nobody HERE would get who this is or what I mean" comments, they're only because this page is part of my Sonic the Hedgehog site, and the people who are fans of that series tend to be very conservative little nice Christian kids who would NEVER go anywhere NEAR Discworld. But, it's also MY website, so I'm going to use the space to show my artwork, regardless of whether it's on topic or not, and I will if I want to! :P)
