There's just so many little offleads to that theory, I shouldn't even TRY to analyze 'em.

But I will, simply because I have nothing better to do. ^_^

Well, first of all, Harry can speak Parselmouth, as we all know. However, you notice that his gift isn't as strong as Voldemort's. Harry has to be face to face with a snake to do it, and Voldemort could call Nagini at will. This could either imply that Harry's Gryffindor tendencies weakened this power he's been endowed with, or that Voldemort's powers were transferred to him by the connection they share with this scar, but not completely, because Voldemort wasn't actually killed by the curse. You know, the old "eye for an eye" proverb. I personally feel that the latter theory makes a bit more sense.

I can barely formulate a theory as to why the Sorting Hat almost placed Harry in Slytherin, but I'm going to try. I think that in that respect, it has nothing to do with blood: he simply has many of the qualities Slytherin valued in his students, as Dumbledore explained in Chamber of Secrets.

As for The Triumphant Look, I think that perhaps Voldemort's aquiration(is that even a word?) of Harry's protection has some quality, some possible advantage, that only Dumbledore's figured out yet. Maybe he thinks it'll make the Dark Lord overconfident(not likely), or maybe it'll give Sirius, Lupin, and maybe even Snape some advantage that they wouldn't have had, otherwise. But that doesn't work, because, as far as we know, none of them had any particular connection with Lily. Unless that theory about the Snape-Lily-James love triangle is accurate.

Maybe it even gives Harry himself some connection with Voldemort that might turn out to be an advantage for Dumbledore's side. But Dumbedore knows that this poses new dangers for Harry, so the triumph is brushed aside. Or maybe he's really Voldemort's father, and he's secretly plotting Harry's demise. As with the Tootsie Pop, the world may never know.

To me, it sounds a lot like the tooth-for-a-tooth thing again. Voldemort shared his gift of Parselmouth unwillingly with Harry, and Harry did the same with the ingrained protection his mother left him. The critics love continuity, after all.
