Specifically speaking, Featherspy, us Canucks have the Grey Cup, eh? (I have an "EH?" shirt. 'S my favourite piece of clothing, even though I've probably never used the colloquial "eh" once in my life.)
A small addition to the whole "Origins of Characters" thread down below: To judge by his last name, one of Sirius' parents is also Scottish. Actually, I've built up an entire geneaology for his father at least. The man's everything from Metis to Scottish to English to Canadian. Maybe that'd account for how bloody messed up he is. **Punts John Black around a bit.** Jerk, I say! Jerk! Faithless wretch!
Mmmm, anyway, on to the Art.
Let's get the most embarrassing of the lot over with, shall we, while you're all still busy discussing how French Remus is?
I was sketching! I didn't do it! I was forced! I plead insanity! And intoxication!
Second picture: Likely to remain unfinished for some time, for the simple reason that IRL it's a bloody big piece, and I'm trying to do it all in .5 lead mechanical pencil. Not fun. Carpal tunnel syndrome pending.
Third: Johnathan Black in all his Stern Patriarchal Glory. I hate the guy. He rates third on my list of People Whose Heads Must be Smacked For The Good of the Universe. Queen Gwenhwyfar is at the top.
Fourth: Hey, look, it's meeee! With bloody BIG eyes, and done in veritable monochrome, save for the obvious of course.
All right, I hope you like this one, Taulai. I smudged my hands with charcoal, oil, ink and pastel, and inhaled the fumes of my noxious markers. And it's all for you! Yes it is! Aren't you happy! =_= Done in the same media as the last picture, the difference being that that one was a sketch that I shaded and coloured in a distinctly negligent fashion. (I hereby find you guilty of criminal negligence. You will be beaten with a bar of soap until you are sorry.) This one, however, was deliberate. Hope it doesn't look too unlike you. The only reference I had for this was myself, after all. ^^;;
Looks rather like a Renaissance-styled oil painting, eh?
On to a different topic.
I can't help but notice (actually, I can, but I'll do it anyway) that the universal opinion of Remus is that he's sweet. I don't really see him that way at all. He's sober, yes, sensitive, scholarly and kind, but has anyone else observed his moments of viciousness? He can be as admirably nasty as Sirius when he wants to be, really. Look at the way he embarrassed Severus in front of twenty kids or so, and thus the entire school, and then got away scot-free. And of course he was just as ready as Sirius to slaughter Pettigrew. Well, no, I tell a lie, but he's a commendable expert in cordial hatred anyway, to my mind. (Ha! And he claims to be mature. Remus, I mock you. Mock mock mock!)
Heh.
Interesting observation, Shandethe! It's too perfect! Particularly as pertaining to the various characters themselves. Allow me to elaborate:
Harry, your template Gryffindor, is volatile and uncontrollable as well as brave; Malfoy and Snape follow their emotions far too often, considering they're supposed to be cunning and shrewd, but in the same moment, they're also far more uncontrollable than your Gryffindors, Fire being the most easily quenched of the elements, whereas Water literally springs eternal and can be equally destructive. Cedric in particular and the Hufflepuffs in general work in their own ways, but once they get moving, they're impossible to halt; and as for the Ravenclaws, from what we know of them, they're a powerful force in their own right, but work well in support of Gryffindors, Air being Fire's most congenial element.
We could extend and extend this theory until the end of the world, but my neck hurts, so I'm signing off now.
