By happenstance (Fark), I found this review, and every time I read more about Ayn Rand, I realize that there are legions of people out to defend/destroy her. I guess there are good points to growing up in isolation and being a voracious reader, as that tends to allow one to read a book uncolored by the communities devoted to an author.

Anywho, one thing that stunned, STUNNED I say, me was taking a look at the comments. As opposed to the vitriol and pettiness that infest most comment boards (ahem), there were many reasonable, civil replies between disagreeing parties (even from opposite sides!). They stayed on topic and addressed issues brought up by others. Wow! WHo knew?

Of course, there were the usual flamers and baiters, but much less in evidence than I had expected, and generally easy to ignore. Maybe NYMag just has a better class of commenters... LOL.
