Eye of the Beholder

I mentioned before that it would be interesting to understand how Moe reconciled Bertholy vs Jones. I have a hint that Moe may not think there is anything to reconcile and that the problem is ours.

I'm sure you know the 'pocketknife on the handkerchief' 'swing' indicator from Jones. Bertholy uses a whiffle ball on a string ('String and Ball') training device to indicate a true 'swing' and correct first move of the downswing. He does however use it quite differently from the Frankel demonstration I saw on Academy Live.

Anyone that refers to the Bertholy version of this as a 'hands and arms' swing has not read Bertholy. Anyone that thinks the Bertholy version of this starts with the hands has also not read Bertholy. And given the various references and 2 decades of personal coaching I'm pretty sure Moe's swing can be accurately characterized as a 'Bertholy' Swing.
