If a public figure like Thomas Jefferson for example was known to have read the works of a philosopher and then pens a work that while not a direct 'quote' is very nearly so, you could say that there was no influence. Or you could say that there was. However if you choose to ignore the work of that philospher you merely close your eyes to a possible influence.
In the same vein Bertholy's work grew out of a time of Hogan, snead and others. Given this and the fact that Bertholy was specifically attempting to model the swing of the best pros, it should be no suprise that Bertholy's work is an accurate reflection of Hogan et al.
I don't know if Moe "hung around" with Bertholy and neither do you.
What I 'know' is that Peter Fox said:
For one, I believe Paul Bertholy at Foxfire, Pinehurst, N.C., who Moe openly calls his "coach" and with whom Moe still regularly consults at least twice a year would take umbrage with references to Moe's inability or unwillingness to learn.
and I know from Fred Schmidt's site:
Moe explained many times how he had been visiting Bertholy in Pinehurst twice a year for the past 18 years. The Bertholy swing principles are engrained in Moe's unique swing (the famous "MOVE") and they form a major part of his world famous golf exhibitions.
I don't need to build anything on Moe's relationship with Bertholy. People that KNOW Moe already have. I only need to look at what Bertholy teaches and compare it with the reality that I see. If you are not interested note that all of my posts about Bertholy will be clearly labeled.
