I've exchanged e'mail with a person who saw the posts here on Bertholy and had spoken with Bertholy 20 years ago and had the manual and Swing Pipe. He doesn't have them now but described the Swing Pipe for me:
It is if I recall correctly a 1 inch pipe perhaps 18 inches long with a leather wrap with caps on the end. That was it...I think it was filled with lead but it was heavy.
He also mentioned it was evenly weighted.
So I'm off tomorrow to Home Depot (pipe) and Sports Authority (lead) to get material to make one. If successful I'll post details.
BTW - He reported that the excercises helped lower his trajectory and correct his hook.
