Real or fiction?

Do you think that bend in the shaft is real or an artifact of the photography used in those days? I personally think the latter.

There is also a B/W photo of Arnold Palmer nearing impact with a HUGE bend in the shaft the other way (ie. clubhead lagging behind).

If these effects were real, the steel shafts they used would not have lasted.
