| Peter, as I said in my reply above, I am not saying that there is no bowing effect of the shaft. There is. If you've seen high speed photo of a golfer just before impact, you can see that the shaft is bowing away from the target, contrary to popular belief that it should be bending the other way with the clubhead lagging behind. The amount of bend at this point is even more prominent than that at 6/100. Most scientists and engineers put this down to the centrifugal force (or centripetal inertia, if you like).
Just so that I understand you correctly, are you saying that this bend is due to the hands exerting a force on the shaft away from the target (or upwards in the case of 6/100)? If the right hand resists (ie. pulls back) and the left hand goes down the plane, wouldn't this cause a bend in the other direction? Sorry if I am misunderstanding you. If you can use force vector diagrams, that would be great.
