The "Second" motion is that of the arms being brought into play during the downswing. ... As the left arm is pulling down the right arm is also pulling down. ... As the right pulls down it should develop a retracting quality, maintaining or improving on wrist cocking through the Master Movement...

The "Third" movement of P.S.M. is that of the hands uncocking...


I'm OK with the kinesthetic procedure and the excercises where you let go of the club/pipe with your trail hand. I can do those every time. It's harder for me to 'retain' with my trail arm every time in real swings while my wrists uncock.

One thought that has helped me with this and provided a supplemntal benefit is to 'use' the tension of my lead arm extending down and forward (from '6/100s' in my mind but it starts from the top) against my resisting trail arm to flex my wrist and produce Hogan's 'raised wrist bone' position. Having this 'positive' use of retention vs the 'negative' (don't let it extend/keep it in) makes it easier for me to accomplish as well as giving me a better lead wrist position at impact. In a sense it give me that famous 'something to hit against'.

I reinforce it in my 'waggle/partial swing' where I set up and feel the tension, not just a relaxing action. I then try to do the same (with a slower tempo) in my real swing.
