I don't question that you can choose to use your trai arm tricpes to power the swing. IMA drill #3 and my 2.5 which I use for chipping and pitching both use the trail arm triceps for power.
I have mentioned before the limits of human reaction time. Consider that one symptom of 'hit impulse' is trail arm thrust (triceps). How likely is it that anyone can consistently maintain the trail arm bend as long as necessary AND THEN choose to use their tricpes to straighten their trail arm? I think their is a reason that the vast majority of people have poor impact positions and video shows that too early extension of the trail arm is the primary reason.
