Maybe so. I have been wrong before. If my statement above was wrong I will be happy to recant. I don't have much worry that I am wrong now though, actually what I am doing is trying to convince you that you are wrong.
This discussion with Ham is in response to his mentioning that he gets more spin from a tight lie. Even if there is some sort of pinching effect on a iron shot out of a divot (which I don't believe that there is) that does not mean that there is any pinching effect on a normal iron shot from a normal lie in the fairway which is indicated by your quoted statement.
