lots of things.
Yes, Moe did say in some video (I can't recall which), when asked if people should try his swing he said, "No".
Moe also said he could eat eggs off his driver face in the finish. This was his feeling, reality was different.
Moe also said his club face was square 22"(or so) past the ball. This was his feeling, reality was different.
So Moe states at some point that nobody should try his swing. Fine. That was his feeling, the reality is Moe's club movement was pure and repeatable. If we all moved the club like Moe, we'd all be great ball strikers.
Here's the part you don't get, and then you can trash me, GGA, or whatever you feel like all you want;
We are in the business of helping golfers improve. But it's more than that. Our business is about self discovery. It's about a Dr. who operates on brains each and every day, but has struggled with golf for 20 years. When he takes the tools we give him and puts them to use through perseverance and practice, and shoots his best score ever, he's like a kid at Christmas. He tries to give us credit, but it's not ours to take. It's his. All we did was give him a set of tools, and some coaching on how to use those tools. HE did the work. And seeing someone make that breakthrough is worth putting up with those who would criticize and attempt to tear down the hard work we put into each and every student who comes to us for the tools.
It's the same for the sheet metal worker in New England who beat cancer and got serious about golf 4-5 years ago. From a 24 handicap to a 4, all the glory is his. And he's one of our best friends out there. He's the hero, NOT us.
You see, you have a problem with us coming out with new material, and the way we market that material. For your problem with that material, we've already had dozens of comments on said material about how it's helped someone achieve an "AHA" moment.
Could a student of any methodology make the truly inspiring improvements we see in our students? I believe they could. You, mcirishman, have made vast improvements because you found what worked for you and YOU worked it...HARD. And the payoff has come. Kudos to you, because you found the tools you needed and you put the tools to work. Our students are no different. They think Moe Norman's golf swing "makes sense", and we work to give them ANY tool they may need along their journey, and this is where you criticize us. For simply seeing where our customers' needs are, and then producing and providing a tool to fit that need. It's up to the customer if they want to use it, but it would be a disservice for us not to provide it.
You seem to delight in "touching a nerve" with us.
Truth be told, golf improvement may be novelty to you, but to us, it defines why our company exists. The more golfers we can help on their path to better golf and self discovery, then our success will grow. So when you stand on the sidelines, without any real understanding of who we are as teachers, coaches, or human beings and throw your darts of derision, ridicule, and general disgust with our way of existence, you, unknowingly, are attacking us as people, and as I'm sure you don't like being attacked, neither do we.
There's only 1 reason I came on board with Todd and Tim over 5 years ago, and it really had nothing to do with me "pinching the ball" with my irons. I threw my hat in with them because they truly cared about me as a golfer, about helping me achieve my goals, and cared about me discovering for myself my true potential.
I know hundreds, if not thousands of guys who'd say the same thing, and That's why we have seen success.
Best of luck to you all.
