Response to The Brain

There is already tons of research out there on the brain and how it learns, indeed very recently some links were posted here by several on this very subject. More importantly, there is also some excellent research and information available on how we learn AS INDIVIDUALS. This subject has received far less attention both outside and inside golf circles, though the foundation was laid around 400 B.C. happy.gif

Most of your information/teaching is presented in great detail, with lots of explanations and great elaboration, in spite of the fact you call your system simple. You even give distances and measurements ( in inches ) for stance width etc, and have several alignment and swing path trainers that students stand on and /or place/swing their clubs on to make sure they are correct. I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS WRONG! It just demonstrates that you present your views of the swing and the game through a certain set of "eyes" commonly known as the melancholy/analytic approach. In your writing and expression though, you emphasize things like relationships, and are more emotional, passionate and and sometimes take things too personal. This is more of the approach of the sanguine.

The problem though, is not everybody learns or can even process information analytically. There are three other basic behavior styles that someone can be, and for a teacher to have the greatest impact, he must match his teaching to the student's style. To look at it another way, a player shouldn't try to approach the game or the swing with an analytic approach if he has been endowed by Mother Nature to approach things more by feeling. We always get our best results when we operate within the behavior style we were given at birth. Teachers that neglect this dynamic of the teacher/student relationship are only providing a half finished service. Here are some article links to get you started:

And of coursehttp://clearkeygolf.com/ if you want the golf version. happy.gif

You can also google Myers-Briggs, Hippocrates four behavior styles, True Colors, and you will get much that should allow you to seriously upgrade your efforts to help all golfers.
