Response to I haven't tried it, but there have been others
Mc, cool video. I have just lately been considering adjusting one of my putters to lower the loft. I have the putter clamps for my loft and lie machine and have done lie angles before, but not loft (on putters). I'm leery of screwing up the face angle that way, but in the end I can only try.
The reason I want to is that I notice I do not get a pure strike feeling if my stroke is at all upward, and that is a tendency I have. I have to make sure to have a flat wrist at impact. So I am probably adding loft when I putt. Rem, this goes to your question. I don't know how well the rolled faces work. But if you try to hit up or hit on top of the ball with a regular putter, it is not a good impact. I know there are pros and pundits who recommend it, trying to put "topspin" on the ball. I just think you want the ball rolling. There are a lot of improvements I could make in my putting before I would worry about adding topspin.
But I'm not a good putter, so that's FWIW.
