does leave a lot to be desired, and this manual is no exception. The user interface on the camera is overly complex and not well documented so that you've got to fiddle with it to figure things out on your own. I have a technical writer friend who worked for a Japanese electronics company years ago. He began collecting snippets of odd English phrases from his Japanese colleagues that had actually made it into his companies manuals. The one he found most unintelligible was: "Pleased to not set toggle while upping electrics" which meant: "Make sure the power switch is off before plugging in the unit."
