When your lead hand is at the front of your lead thigh in your practice swing. it is after impact. It is not for the pro in the example I posted. Also note that your practice swing does not have your weight as much on your lead foot as should happen in a real swing. Having your weight more on your lead foot would have your lead thigh closer to the target but perhaps not your hands (likely part but definitely not all of the differential between #1 and #2).
The real measure that should be used here requires the ball to be visible but that is the comparison based on what is visible.
