The purpose of setting up a camera as most of the best teachers do for a down the line shot is to be able to analyze the golf swing, not track ball flight. This is why they set the camera up on an extention of the swing plane.
If your goal is to track ball flight then the camera should be placed on or above the target line aimed at the target.
Your post which began this part of the discussion was about "golf swing" not "ball flight".
