Gainey's trail hand grip is very much like my trail hand grip when I used HSS. Unless he's using a Blake type 'grip completion' his trail hand will be in pretty much the same position it is at impact and at impact the palm is not facing the target.

His club face position at club horizontal in the back swing is the same as Dolman's in the HSS book. At club horizontal in the downswing it's about the same as Heard's. He does not hook because his impact position has his wrists a long way from needing to rotate.

At impact he has his trail arm bent as he does at address and has about the same alignment.
