Moe Knows how to hit a golf ball

A lot of people dont know that Moe Norman actually would setup aimed a bit to the right of his target and hit a slight pull to get the ball to the target. For years now I have been dropping my rear foot a bit inside the target line when I setup to the ball not really a closed stance just not a square stance with the feet. For some reason my ball striking would occasionally get off and I would need to put in a lot of time at the range to correct it. Spending time at the range would eventually get my ball striking back to where I wanted it but I really never knew what I did to correct my swing other than hit a lot of shots until the ball would start going back to the target again. Lately I have been having a hard time sleeping due to my constant back pain so I have been watching my collection of SA golf videos at night. I have watched a lot of videos of Moe Norman hitting balls and golf instructors such as Craig Shankland analyzing Moes swing and one of the things that Craig Shankland points out is how Moe stands with his right foot inside his left foot and he says that it is one of the essential elements of Moes swing. While I am not convinced that Craig Shankland really understands Moes swing I do think that I have found the reason for my occasional spells of bad ball striking. I think that I have a tendency to revert back to a square stance and that is when my ball striking goes bad. Tonight I exaggerated the closed stance on the range and my ball striking cleared up immediately. I then went out and shot an even par 72. I hit two of the four par fives in two making eagle on one of the par fives while two putting the other for birdie. I also hit a drive today that I think went about 310 yards based on the distance I had left to the hole. From now on when my ball striking goes bad I will check my setup first and make sure that I am setting up with a closed stance before I look for any other swing faults.
