Purepoint golf is advertised mainly as simple golf. To not get you confused the other simple golf which is discussed on this site had to change their name to symple golf. With that out of the way purepoint golf is a setup with a standard grip ( interlock recommended light grip only if you are experienced ) but setup with the wrists already cocked likedBob Manns videos. The backswing is a 3/4 compact swing with no weight shift back ( meaning forward foot stays on the ground . The downswing has a shift forward. The power is derivered by preset wrist c**k and forearm rotation. The overall concept is to do as little as possible since anything more than that will get you in trouble. The hard part is squaring the club off with the forearm rotation and timing it.
I already sold my video or I would have sold it here. Its a good swing for someone who does not have the flexibility and overswings and moves all over the place thinking the 1 out of 100 balls they hit solid means they have it.
I looked at it last year but because I had just given up on "Dalton McCrary" and the exact timing required, I went with "Symple Swing". The problem I am having now is SS is a pure shoulder turn swing and I have trouble turning. What I would like is an arm swing with just a little shoulder turn. Have tried LPG it works for me on short irons but I can't use it for woods.
If you want a no turn swing get 'Master the Golf Swing' and stop at Impact Backwards drill #4. You have there a 'swing' with no shoulder turn at all. In my case I can hit the ball about 225 with that swing and my 'retro' driver (steel shaft and small head).
Don Trahan's book, "Golf, Plain and Simple". I never tried anything in it but it was an interesting read... I like to read golf books - I am currently reading the classic Nicklaus "Golf My Way". Anyways, the Trahan book I have is like new - if you want it send me 5 bucks and it's yours.
I'm just the opposite with SS I hit woods better than I ever have but can't hit irons. It's me the concept is good and Joe and Mike are great guys.
I think Dalton is dead, I bought the tapes on e-bay on the recommendation of a Canadian Friend. Then when I tried to get help the phones were disconnected. They are still selling them in England on Golf Chanel it's turned into a big conn!
I looked at Puregolf (simple golf) for a long time and came to the decision that the timing of the wrist and arm would be too hard for a old non athlete like me too much like a CG swing.
I agree withyou about what great guys Joe and Mike are. I haven't really had all that much contact with Mike , but I have with Joe. He is a great guy,and couldn't be more helpful.
I like there concept, but I just have not been able to hit a Drive or long shot at all.
I haven't given up, but right now I am not using it in my rounds of golf.
I really know nothing about pure golf so I can't comment on it.
I thought I was complete about describing pureswing. If you want more specifics please ask. But basically it is posture which is bent over more than normal. The wrist are set at address in a c**ked position. you turn your right shoulder to start the swing to about a 3/4 swing not doing anything with the wrists and keeping your lower body still and then a weight shift forward (the bump of the lead hip)and a turn thru the ball. You use a neutral grip and rotate the forearms back and thru to square the clubface and get extra distance. Without a video there is not much more to say. If Chaz was around I know he tried it and maybe he can add to what I have said.
Tried it, didn't work too well for me, although I liked the right shoulder turn move.

I couldn't quite grasp what they wanted you to do for shifting the weight to the lead side, and the hands turning over threw unecessary timing into it in MHO.
I will sell my DVD from it for $25. if anyone is interested.
With the low hands at address do you try at impact to have the low hands? (Wrist remain cocked) Have you seen Gary Edwin's VCD. Gary is Rod Pamplin's and a lot of Aussie's coach. He has what he calls right sided swinging. Low hands at address right shoulder turn and hands return low.

Purepoint golf like a lot of the simple methods does not describe the level of detail we tend to think of. As the wrists are precocked and they don't say anything to do with them i assume if you are turning then doing the weight shift that is what they are depending on holding the angle.
As for Gary Edwin I am pretty familar with his methods. I never heard him descibe the hands to be be low. He does like a narrow width swing like pure point without a weight shift but he would want a swing that goes more up than purepoint. He is not fond of a strong grip indicating that is a posture issue.
Any swing that does requre a weight shift and rotating of the forearms draws my interest.Symple golf and Jerry Heard are good choices for me. Even in those methods I think of swinging my arms and hands and that turns my shoulders. In that regard I tend to follow Mark Evershed who I believe is very good in determining your swing faults based on the parts that control that piece of the machine. That came from his training in TGM. Interesting enough on his paid online site he stated that there are possibly only 3 people who knew directly from Moe what he was doing and he was one of them. He played with him for a number of years as a kid and Moe liked him. He stated the Natural golf training program was totally wrong.
