I must say, I'm impressed, very nice job. I appreciate your mention of me in the welcome, but it isn't really necessary. You can, of course, leave it if you like, but I'm just happy to help, no big thing.
I see you cut part of the code from view source and accidentally cut yahoo's advertisment as well. It shouldn't be too hard to find that and cut it out of your code though. I also would recomend you move the net54 ad banner to the top of the forum, most of us have gone that way, and it looks better I think. But do what you like, it's your place! And a fine job you did in here too!

I looked over your code and you've got several things in there that don't need to be. I found the code for the yahoo add banner. If you go to your view source, you'll see it just below your last </html> tag. I see you've also linked to my site in order to show the images. (The banner, background, table, etc.) You'll want to download those images onto your own harddrive, and then upload them to your site. Then link to them from there. I'll leave the images up for awhile, until you get that all taken care of though. I'll tell you what, in order to not get that yahoo add stuck in there, I'll just cut a copy of the exact code you should post into your description field under options. I'll be back later this evening to do that.

...why you attmept html, but I know if you keep at it (and buy a few books) you'll pick stuff up quicker than you are. I myself have one book, and it's gotten me this far, but I need more info.
I left fairly detailed instructions in a thread below on how to adjust your message board to look like the template I made for you. Just letting you know they're down there.

I took the liberty of creating a mock page for you on my site, so you can take a look at a color scheme and setup I picked out. I kept with the style that Quendi and the DT uses, though you can change it to suit what you want. Of course the welcoming text is for Quendi, and so are the links, you'd probably want to make your own. You are, of course, welcome to keep those links, but you'll definatly want to change the welcoming text to suit Great Smials. So anyway, take a look and tell me what you think.

So if you don't like it, not to worry, we can rearange whatever you like. Carcharoth has a different setup (obviously) with a different look, so between his thoughts, and mine, I'm sure we can come up with something that'll suit your thoughts on how you want this place to look in the end.

If you know what to look for, you can just right click your mouse on the page I made for you, and select "view source". That will give you the code for the page. Like I said, if you know what to look for, you can just pick it out that way.
What you need to do though, is download the Great Smials banner, the oversize "w" at the beginning of the welcome, and the background image. I'm not going to leave them permanently on my site, but I won't remove them until you've downloaded the material. To download an image, right click on it, then select "save image as" and save it to your hard rive. Then upload the images to your site.
To get the banner where you want, login to net54. Go to the "options" menu. In the first field called "Forum Name" paste the URL, with the <img> tag around it. To center it, place the <center> tag around the <img> tag.
For the oversized "w", the welcoming text and the links table, I suggest you look at the code in view source on the sample page and copy and paste the whole table into the "Forum Description" field, also located in the "options" section. At this point, you can just rewrite the welcome inside the field. You can also change the links to whatever you see fit. This way the code will stay intact, and no matter how many links you add, delete or change, the table will hold it's form.
For the rest of the options field, I think you're all set. My personal settings are "allow formatted text", "show IP address". "Sort order" is 'decending', and "thread format" is 'fully threaded'. My "thread limit" is set to '20' and "page limit" is set to '0' for unlimited pages. Under "button labels" I basically use the defaults, though I've changed the names a little bit. On the "go back link" I put in my web page's address, and made the text read as the title of my page. All this is under "basic options" and "button labels" in the "options" menu.
Now go to the "appearance" menu. Set the Background color to "000000", text color to "FFFFFF", link color to "6699FF", and the vlink color to "FF0000". The rest of the color fields don't matter, so don't worry about them, except, set "line color" to "000000" as well.
Next, "line thickness" should be set to "thin", and "table shading" set to "transparent". Ignore the "forground image" field, just leave it blank. In "background image" paste the URL of the black background you just uploaded from your hard drive.
For "add location" pick 'top of page'. For "forum style" pick 'simple outline bullets' and for "default font" pick 'arial, helvetica'. For the last option on the page, pick "small".
That's everything you need to worry about. Hopfully this is all clear enough for you to make the changes without a problem.

I've visited*your* forum now you come visit mine
Your forumrocks! It's almost as good as TGD! Really! You've improved it much since I was here last.(I'm not trying to kiss up to you or anything, even if it seems that way.)Bye!
...I could help you if you wanted to add some things to this board. Say a background and a links section, possibly a banner? Soothfast (the guy who runs DT) showed me how to do much of what I know at this point, but I know enough about these 54 boards to help if you like.
I'll just leave a few links for banners and backgrounds, use them if you like...
I'll see about throwing together a little preview of texture and banner with the color scheme you're using here, I'll let you know when it's done. Then you can tell me what you think, and decide if you want to use it, or go with something else.

There you go Avis. It's in a link of the word "look" near the bottom of the post. I substituted blue instead of the green in here, but color changing is easy to render, and can be changed without any trouble if you like something else.

I'm no where near a god, I just know a little about these boards is all. If you want tos see someone who's great with html, talk to Sooth, he runs the DT.

...I'm not sure. He helped me. If you go to his web site, you'll find a very useful tutorial on html and some neat little tricks. His e-mail is on his site, you could always mail him and explain who you are and ask him for some help, but if I were you, I'd just go to the DT, and from there, click on the link called "Tech Help". He runs a technical help board for html and all sorts of other things. Give it a shot.

i went to Toronto to go see it and it rocked!!!!!the set was amazing and Bilbo was da bomb. Though the Dwarves had a bizarre habit of making exclamations of "AAAAH!!" every 5 seconds or so, and the elves didnt really look like elves, the play is 2 thumbs up!
