Ever good story needs a damn good villain - so Llewellyn had to survive. Just try to imagine Dallas without JR, Noggin the Nog without Nogbad the Bad, etc. It wouldn't work, and neither would Group Efforts without Llewellyn's malevolent presence scheming away in the background.
