Taking the Leap

Over the past four years, I've read almost every book available on commercial writing...books by Bob Bly, Gary Blake, Herman Holtz, Lucy Parker, Ray Dreyfack, Maryclaire Collins, George Sorenson, Mary Moreno, and on and on. Your book, "The Well-Fed Writer," is awesome! I've also studied a mountain of information on marketing, starting and running a home biz, etc.

I'm not interested in novels, poems, plays, or any of that. Corporate writing is what I would love to do, and as someone who has worked with words for many years, I absolutely believe in my writing and editorial abilities.

My biggest problem is believing in myself. I have no experience in this realm. I love the security of a regular job/paycheck. I'm a naturally shy, behind-the-scenes kind of guy, and things like networking, cold calling, meetings, marketing myself, and managing projects seem like a giant leap. I've thought about trying to ease into it part-time. I've thought about a lot of things! How do I go from thinking and dreaming to becoming?
