Hi,
Before I interview any subject matter experts I always research the topic. Start with google.com for key words. Make sure your peice includes the most current information.
Next, I make a list of questions for hot items. These are questions that I don't quite understand or can't find an answer to. I think about what others might want to know. Even though some answers might seem obvious, I ask the question. And most of the time the the folks you interview will give you more info than you really need. This is good. It will help you get quotes!
It's a great form of flattery to have someone interview you. It's also free press. I'm sure you'll find contacts who are willing to help.
If possible interview by email. Type out your questions and ask that they be emailed back to you. This way you have all the info in print.
Thumbs up, you're a writer! Affirm your greatness and go!
Best wishes,
