Our Vision
One of the prevalent problems within America today is the
proliferation of lawsuits and complaints about what people say.
"Political Correctness" has become not only a well-used term, but also
an almost legal concept. But this goes against everything that
American society was built upon.
American society was built upon a simple concept that has,
through the years, been nearly wiped out: tolerance. Our founding
fathers wanted the citizens of America to be themselves and therefore
adopted guidelines in our framing document to ensure that views,
expression, religions, etc. would be allowed to exist without
punishment. But we've lost that.
There are taboo topics within American society. There is
ostracization of those with nonconformist views. There are lawsuits
for words people say. Is this a tolerant society? The answer is a
resonant no. When we begin to abridge the freedom of the people, we
begin to lose the greatness of America. By restricting what is allowed
to be expressed to what is only "appropriate for children", we set up
what becomes only a childish society.
This magazine is a tolerant magazine. We will accept any
submission regardless of its point-of-view, so long as it has a
literary bent. We hope this will help to expand your own views.
Society also tends to focus greatly on the way a package looks
instead of what is inside. A Literary Bent Magazine is not about color
graphics and high gloss paper. Our focus is literature and we want to
hold your interest with what is written on the pages, not what the
pages are printed on.
