I will graduate this May (2005) with my B.A. degree in English. from the University of Southern Mississippi (one of the top 5 writing programs in the country). I have tons of experience writing, but not as far as paid assignments.
I also have a real estate license in Florida and Mississippi. I have a few years experience designing marketing and advertising lay-outs for Realtors. I also have lots of experience in direct mail, about 15 years experience in computer hardware and software, good knowledge of technical writing (course), good knowledge in writing scripts for radio, TV, and news (course), and good knowledge of the laundromat business, self-serve car-wash industry, and the self-storage facility business.
My question is, what is the best resource in which to locate companies to approach for writing assignments? How do I get started? What are my chances of finding lots of work?
By the way: I just finished "The Wealthy Writer" and thought it was excellent!
