Hi Peter,
I understand your concern, but I still don't think it's a big problem. Consider feature articles written by a conventional journalist. Generally speaking, they put forth a particular view or argument which will quote various experts and other information will be presented as facts, again based on the opinion of others. This is standard practice, and I think you can take the same approach with your book.
Keep in mind that at this moment you know little about the topic. But, once you begin researching, that situation will change rapidly. Once you begin interviewing experts to verify or support your research, you'll know even more. My advice is to just get down to work. To write the book you want to write. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
