I agree that the web offers great opportunities to mingle with everyone - great and small - everywhere - from China to Peru. Unfortunately, we're short of time so we have to select. Often, I've chosen badly. I've got into communities that have little to offer - or nothing to offer me.
Recently, I've found Crossroads Publishing and they're just what I've been looking for. They talk to each other. They help and encourage each other. And they publish damned fine books - shortly one of mine!!!
