  • Typical sales copy?

      Thanks Michael. Yes, that helps, but I need to be more specific.

      I’ve come across several supposedly big name, successful, highly paid and sought after copywriters selling books and courses online, some of them quite expensive. Even some that pass the five-point test you recommended leave me skeptical because of weak and amateurish copy, spelling errors, punctuation errors, and a lot of bad word habits.

      Am I missing something here? I understand that sales, marketing, and web writing doesn’t always follow traditional rules of grammar and other types of writing. But is good, accurate, easy-to-read, intelligent and compelling copy completely unnecessary in order to sell products or be a highly paid, sought after copywriter? Is the literary standard really that low for this kind of work?

      Again, I have to wonder . . . how many of these people are really highly paid, highly sought after copywriters, and how many of them are just making a quick buck selling their “expertise,” which in my opinion isn't very impressive from a writing standpoint.
