What ever happened to the members of the first freshman class of the then (new) Wayne Memorial High School? Are they so few that they are considered of no consequence? For those of you that failed math, that would be the graduating class of 56, I think. How would I know, I dropped out.
I was once told by "Tweety" that I was the only student in the school who went to the bar for lunch.
Say, I remember a Willie Young that lived in an apartment on Brush Street and a Willis Young that owns a print shop on Wayne Rd. Same one??? Check me out on this: Didn't that same Willie Young work at the Wayne Dispatch with a guy named Willis Taylor and Dick Bumstead (now living in Texas) Maybe this is where the experience came in order to operate a printing business.
This same Willie Young knew Bill Wade and together we quaffed a few beers in that upstairs apartment. Though I no longer drink the memory of good times remains.
Though Willie hasn't returned to the site, maybe I can answer what Bumstead did...Willie probably didn't do anything except fill the inkpots of the writers (Just kinding, Willie.
I think Dick ran the press. The few times I remember seeing him, he had ink all over his apron.
Larry, remember the gas station on the corner that was owned by Dennis King's (not the one that went to St mary's) Dad? He lived on First street.
As I said before Dick is living in the Houston area after retiring from the asphalt paving business.
Willie runs Bill's Print Shop across the street from the Dairy Queen. He says he don't get on here much. He never did answer my response...had to see him in person.
