Yeah, he(Porphyria's lover)was a pretty sick dude. Maybe he(Browning)did cop some flack for the poem at the time. I know that if I was Elizabeth I'd be a bit worried. Then again, maybe it was just considered entertaining like Stephen King novels today and other "works" of the horror genre.
