A long time ago, I may have agreed, but (more)by Bob
Things change. I think it's a misguided sense of chivalry to think otherwise. Women these days (the serious ones) expect no quarter and wish to be treated the same way that men are. In fact, some I know take offense if they become the spectacle. In their view, it's your problem, not theirs and they are prepared to shed blood just like a man.
That being said, many of my work partners have been women. I trusted them with my life and many times they watched my six and saved my bacon. As a bonus they can be a lot more pleasant to spend a tour of duty with than some fat, cigar smoking, foul mouthed, farting guy.... It took me a long time to fight my natural desire to open doors for them or to pay the check, but I overcame it, and now I prefer it this way.
